Legendary boxer Canelo Alvarez joins the cast of Michael B Jordan’s Creed 3. Jordan, who plays the  Adonis Creed in the Rocky spinoff series has confirmed the casting news through his Instagram.

The actor posted a story with Alvarez on the sets of the upcoming film, “Directing the legend himself in Creed III. Can’t wait to see the film on March 3. A star inside the ring and out … welcome to the family. Good luck this weekend.”

Jordan’s good luck message at the end of the story alluded to Alvarez’s match against Gennady Golovkin on Saturday in Las Vegas. The boxer would be defending his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles.

Creed 3, which continues the story of Apollo Creed’s son Adonis would focus on his life after his ascension to fame following his win against Ivan Drago’s son Viktor Drago. Michael B Jordan would be making his directorial debut with the film. The film is based on a story co-written by Keenan Coogler, Zach Baylin, and Ryan Coogler, who previously directed the first Creed film before moving on to Black Panther.

Creed 3, the first film to not have Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky, is currently scheduled to release on 3 March 2023.
