Orlando Bloom joins film adaptation of Gran Turismo video game series

Orlando Bloom has reportedly joined the cast of the feature-length adaptation of the Gran Turismo game series. It was earlier reported that Stranger Things fame David Harbour and Archie Madekwe were set to headline the film.

The action-packed racing drama will be directed by Neil Blomkamp, who is known for directing sci-fi films like District 9 and Chappie. The script for the film is written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin, Hall has written American Sniper while Baylin is most known for writing King Richard.

The film revolves around a gamer, played by Madekwe, who wants to use his gaming skills to win real-world racing games. Harbour plays the retired race car driver who helps the young racer achieve his dreams. Bloom will reportedly essay the role of an eccentric marketing executive who also happens to believe in the art of racing.

Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the original Playstation game is also serving as the producer of the film, along with Jason Hall. Sony Pictures is gearing up for a worldwide release on 11 August 2023.
