Disney+Hotstar is working on a series adaptation of Mahabharata

Disney unveiled the first visual glimpse into the making of its upcoming Mahabharata series through a series of concept art. Details regarding the series adaptation of the Indian epic were released at Disney’s fan event D23 expo that happened on Friday. Gaurav Banerjee, the head of content at Disney+ Hotstar & HSM Entertainment Network officially confirmed the news at a panel at D23.

Speaking about the series at the fan event, Banerjee said, "There are over a billion people who know Mahabharata in some form, or the other. Most of them in my country have heard them as children from their grandparents, there are billions more who remain unaware of what they have been missing. It would indeed be a privilege to be able to bring this incredible story to a wider global audience next year,"

The show will be produced by Madhu Mantena under his banner Mythoversestudios along with Allu Entertainment and Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment.

The makers are yet to release details regarding the cast and release plans for the series.
