The first official trailer for Netflix’s upcoming musical titled Matilda: The Musical has been released online. The film is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's children’s classic of the same name. The upcoming film will bring the Tony Award-winning musical to the big screen. 

The book had already received a feature film adaptation in 1996 starring Danny Devito and Mara Wilson. The 2022 film stars an ensemble cast that includes Emma Thompson, Alisha Weir, and Lashana Lynch. Thompson will play the strict headmistress of the school known as Ms.Trunchbull. 

The film is directed by Matthew Warchus, the British filmmaker who is also a famed dramatist. The musical is based on a screenplay written by Roald Dahl and Dennis Kelly. Music for the film is composed by Australian musician/actor/comedian Tim Minchin.

The cast of the film also includes Ralph Fiennes, Emma Stone, Stephen Graham, and Andrea Riseborough. The film is currently scheduled to release on 25 December.
