Disney+ Star Wars series Andor starts filming season 2

The Star Wars spinoff series based on characters from the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has started filming its second season. Andor is set five years before the events of Rogue One. The series follows Cassian Andor, portrayed by Diego Luna, who is a part of the rebellion to restore the republic.

The first season premiered on 21 September 2022 and was hailed as one of the best entries to the Star Wars mythos in recent times. The second season adds directors Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios. Series creator Tony Gilroy also revealed that his brother Dan Gilroy and Beau Willimon would be writing for season 2, they had already written episodes in season 1. 

Stellan Skarsgard had earlier confirmed that the production on season 2 would begin in the latter half of 2022 while Gilroy revealed that the production would begin on Thanksgiving, which falls on 21 November. Now, it has been revealed that the cast and crew have flown out to London to start filming for season 2.

Tom Bissell will also be joining the writers room this season. He is best known for writing the book The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made which was later turned into an Academy Award-nominated film. The supporting cast of the series includes Genevieve O'Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw.
