God of War live-action series in development

CE Features

It is being reported that a live-action series adaptation of the popular mythology-based video game franchise God of War is in the works at Amazon Prime Video.

Reports also suggest that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the creators and executive producers of The Expanse along with Rafe Judikns, the showrunner of Amazon Prime Video's recently released epic series, The Wheel of Time, are creatively involved in the show. Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions will also be bankrolling the project.

This is the latest video game to get a live action series adaptation after the announcement of Twisted Metal at Peacock, The Last of Us from HBO, Paramount Plus' Halo, and Netflix's Resident Evil show, which are in different stages of development.

Considering the nascency of the project, details such as the cast and crew are currently under wraps and a clear picture is expected to be out in the months to come.

Seven games have been released so far in the God of War franchise and an eighth game titled God of War: Ragnorok is expected to hit the shelves later this year.
