Kathryn Newton,  Cole Sprouse onboard for Lisa Frankenstein

The upcoming film is inspired from the Frankenstein story of Mary Shelley

Actors Kathryn Newton of slasher-comedy film Freaky and Cole Sprouse who starred in Riverdale, have joined the cast of the upcoming Hollywood film titled Lisa Frankenstein, according to media reports.

Produced by Focus Features, the upcoming film is inspired from the Frankenstein story of Mary Shelley. With this, the film's story will follow a girl who accidentally rebuilds a young man's dead body according to her choices.

Lisa Frankenstein is directed by Zelda Willaims, marking her directorial debut. Written by Diablo Cody, he will also produce the film along with Mason Novick under MXN Entertainment. It is to be noted that Cody won the Academy Award for Best Writing, Original Screenplay for the film Juno.

The principal photography of the upcoming feature will begin in summer 2022, followed by production.

Meanwhile, Frankenstein has served as an inspiration for several projects such as the stop motion animated film Frankenweenie (2012), and the science fiction horror film Victor Frankenstein (2015).
