Tim Miller, who last directed 2019’s Dark Fate has announced that his next project The Goon, will be released directly on Netflix. The film, which Miller said is based on Eric Powell's comic book, which is published by Dark Horse, has been stuck in development hell for a couple of years.

Before making his directorial debut with Deadpool in 2016, Miller was a creative supervisor and director on projects like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Thor: The Dark World.

Miller has also executive produced both Sonic the Hedgehog films. The Netflix series Love, Death + Robots, for which he has written two episodes and directed two more earned him a Primetime Emmy Award in 2019 after much praise from audiences, and he won the award for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program. The series was nominated for the same award at this year’s Emmy Awards, as well as being nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half Hour) and Animation.
