Trailer for Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is out

Trailer for the feature-length adaptation of the popular tabletop fantasy role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons, titled Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves released at San Diego Comic-Con.

The film, which is based on the Forgotten Realm campaign setting from the D&D games, is directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The pair is known for screenwriting Horrible Bosses and the story for its sequel. The ensemble cast includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant in lead roles.

The film revolves around a band of thieves who unwittingly unleash evil powers and then go on a quest to right their wrongs. Produced by Paramount Pictures, The film is getting a worldwide theatrical release on 3 March 2023. 

The Dungeons and Dragons game, originally released in 1974, innovated on the adventure game format by allowing the players to create characters of their own. The game spawned multiple sequels and several other franchises over the years. The film received its first adaptation in 2000, followed by two sequels. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a reboot of the franchise with a fresh story.

With Amazon’s LOTR series and HBO’s GOT prequel and now a live-action adaptation of D&D, it seems to be the year of epic fantasy adventures.
