House of the Dragon trailer shows a grander look into the prequel series

The show, based on author George R R Martin’s Dance of the Dragons, premieres on 21 August

The trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel series titled House of the Dragon has released online. The series, set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones, takes us back into Westeros. The promising trailer shows internal strife within the Targaryen family.

The show is based on author George R R Martin’s book Dance of the Dragons. The show adapts the second half of the first volume of the book. Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan J Condal are brought on as showrunners. Miguel Sapochnik has directed several episodes of Game of Thrones. He went on to win an Emmy for directing the finale of the season six episode titled Battle of the Bastards

House of the Dragon is set to revolve around House Targaryen, known for uniting the kingdoms of Westeros with their ability to ride dragons into battle. The ensemble cast includes Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, and Paddy Considine.

The series is set to premiere its first episode on 21 August on HBO in the US and on Disney+ Hotstar in India. The epic fantasy drama will clash with Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel titled The Rings of Power which also tackles a similar genre.
