Domhnall Gleason joins Steve Carell in FX’s show The Patient. It is created by Joe Weisberg, who is also the creator of The Americans. The show will be written and produced by Joel Fields. In addition to Gleason, the show will also see Lind a Emond of Succession and Lodge 49 play an important role. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist star Andrew Leeds and This is Us actor Laura Niemi are also a part of this project.

Carell will portray the role of Alexander Strauss who will be kept captive by a serial killer. He is a psychotherapist, who decides to explore the psyche of the man who has locked him up and through this, he also comes to understand his own trauma.

The reason why Strauss would be kept captive is to stop the serial killer from acting on his homicidal urges. In the process, there is a possibility of Alexander unravelling too as he is yet to process the loss of his wife. The Patient will be executive produced by The Americans alum Chris Long who will also direct the first episodes of the show. The other executive producers of the show includes Carell, Kevin Bray, Gwyneth Horder-Payton, Caroline Moore, and Victor Hsu.

The 10-part FX show does not have a release date as of now.
