David Dastmalchian, who was last seen in Denis Villeneuve's Dune and James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, has reportedly joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

Recently Alden Ehrenreich, David Krumholtz, and Kenneth Branagh were roped in to play important roles in the film. The massive cast also includes Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Mathew Modine, Dane DeHaan, and Jack Quaid. Revolving around the life of J Robert Oppenheimer, one of the fathers of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer adapts Martin Sherwin and Kai Bird's Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph of J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Dastmalchian got his breakthrough role in Nolan's The Dark Knight in 2007. He played Thomas Schiff, one of the Joker's henchmen. That role got him to a wider audience. From there, he found consistent work with Villeneuve along with roles in films like Ant-Man films, Blade Runner 2049, The Suicide Squad and Dune.

Dastmalchian is set to appear in Boston Strangler and adaptation of Stephen King's The Boogeyman from 20th Century Studios. He's also part of the Dracula film The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Nolan will write and direct Oppenheimer with Emma Thomas and Charles Rovan co-producing it.

Oppenheimer will hit theatres on July 21, 2023. The film recently began production.
