Beyblade live-action film on cards

A live-action film based on the hit toy franchise Beyblade is in development from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount Pictures. The film will be written by Neil Widener and Gavin James, but the plot details are being kept under wraps.

Beyblade, the game was first in 1999, 20 years ago and was developed by the Japanese firm Taraka, but it has been licensed by different toy companies over the years including Hasbro. 

The film is in very early development, but reportedly Paramount is aiming to make a potential franchise just like Transformers. Bruckheimer has a notable track record of bankrolling franchises like Pirates of the Caribbean,  National Treasure and Bad Boys.

Writer duo Widener and James has written the upcoming Now You See Me 3 for Lionsgate and have been developing an adaptation of the Hourman comic for Warner Brothers and DC Films.

There is no official word on the actors starring in the film, or when it will go on floors.
