Avatar: The Way of Water collects Rs 3,500 crore worldwide

Avatar: The Way of Water, the recently released sequel of Avatar, by filmmaker James Cameron, has collected Rs 160 crore in the nationwide box office in India (gross), within three days of release. The film had an opening weekend worldwide collection of Rs 3,500 crore.

James' Avatar: The Way of Water was in the making for several years since the release of the first part in 2009. The epic science fiction film is set in a planet called Pandora and how humans try to invade the planet that belongs to the local species and sapiens Na'vi. The sequel takes place 10 years after the events of the first film and the resurgence of the humans to once again take control of Pandora, this time with a much better plan and well-equipped.

With screenplay by James, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, the story has been written by them along with Josh Friedman and Shame Salerno. It stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, among others.

Avatar: The Way of Water is running in Indian theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
