Mindy Kaling who plays Kelly Kapoor in The Office has come out saying that the hit show, “Just couldn’t be made today. That show is so inappropriate now,” she added that the show “would be cancelled.”

Kaling spoke about the show when asked about a possible reboot or a reunion on Good Morning America. She said, “The writers who I’m still in touch with now, we always talk about how much of that show we probably couldn’t make now,” Kaling added. “Tastes have changed, and honestly what offends people has changed so much now. I think that actually is one of the reasons the show is popular because people feel like there’s something kind of fearless about it or taboo that it talks about on the show.”

When the actor/writer was asked how her character Kelly Kapoor would do in recent times, she said, “I think she would have quit Dunder Mifflin to become an influencer, and then probably be canceled, almost immediately. Actually, most of the characters on that show would be canceled by now.”

The Office is a reboot of the UK series of the same name which was originally created by the British comedian Ricky Gervais. The series premiered its first episode in 2005 and after a successful nine-season run, it ended in 2013.
