The makers of The Holiday, the 2006 romantic comedy film which was written and directed by Nancy Meyers, have put the rumours regarding the film's sequel to rest and said that the second installment is not taking place.

The Holiday starred Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz as two lovelorn women who agree for a home exchange in order to escape heartbreaks during the Christmas holiday season. The film fetched positive reviews for the cast's performances.

A few days back, The Sun had reported that the film's sequel is in the making and will go on floors from next year in UK and Europe. Denying the rumours, Nancy took to Instagram to share a news report on the sequel and confirmed that the sequel is not happening. ""So many DMs about this - sorry but it's not true," the director wrote.

In an interview with People, Kate also confirmed that the sequel for The Holiday is not happening. "I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up," she was quoted as saying by a Collider report.
