First look out for Christian Bale’s character in The Pale Blue Eye

Christian Bale’s look in the film The Pale Blue Eye has been released online. Scott Cooper, known for Out of the Furnace, Crazy Heart, and Crazy Heart, is directing the film. Described as a thriller-horror film, The Pale Blue Eye is an adaptation of Louis Bayard’s book of the same name, which was released in 2006.

Set in 1803, the film follows detective Augustus Landor, played by Christian Bale, as he investigates a series of murders at the United States Military Academy in New York. He is aided by a young, fictionalized version of author Edgar Allan Poe. Harry Melling, known for playing Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films, will essay the role of writer/poet Allan Poe.

The film also stars Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Timothy Spall, and Hadley Robinson. Netflix bought the rights for the film before production began in March 2021. The film is set to have its streaming premiere on Netflix on 6 January 2023 with a worldwide theatrical release on 23 December 2022.
