Netflix confirmed that the German show Barbarians will return for a second season on 21 October 2022. Daniel Donskoy, who plays Flavus in the series, announced the news through a Twitter post. The historical drama series created by Andreas Heckmann, Jan Martin Scharf, and Arne Nolting, premiered its first season in October 2020. After a two-year wait, the streaming giant has now announced the second season will start premiering in October.

Set in the 9th Century AD, the show follows the German soldiers as they clash with the mighty Roman army as they start spreading their empire through Europe. The story is a fictionalization of the historical events that happened around the rebellion of Germanic tribes against the Roman empire under the leadership of Arminius. Barbarians was one of the top watched non-English Netflix shows in every country.

The second season of the show will reportedly follow the six-episode format of the first season. The series stars Laurence Rupp, Jeanne Goursaud, and David Schütter in the lead.
