House of the Dragon gets renewed for second season

House of the Dragon, a prequel of hit TV series Game of Thrones, gets renewed for second season, the makers announced on Friday.

House of the Dragon is getting released as one episode per week on Disney+ Hotstar (in India) and HBO Max (in US). The show premiered on August 21.

The announcement comes after the first episode garnered a huge viewership. The series witnessed a viewership of nearly 10 million in the United States.

House of the Dragon is based on George RR Martin's book Fire and Blood. The series is set about 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen (one of the main characters of Game of Thrones) and focuses on the Targaryen ancestry. The series focuses during the reign of King Viserys Targaryen, who is in the dilemma of naming his heir.
