Giancarlo Esposito, famous for playing Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, is reportedly in talks to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The news comes after Marvel unveiled their plans for Phase 5 and 6 at the San Diego Comic-Con. Reports state that the actor is interested to play Professor X, who is a mutant and a father figure for the superhero group X-Men. The actor also acknowledges the fact that the fans have long been wanting him to play supervillains like Doctor Doom and Magneto.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige had confirmed a slew of projects from films to television series. Some of the high-profile confirmations include a film reboot of the Fantastic Four and the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Some of Esposito’s popular roles include Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, Antón Castillo in the Far Cry 6 game, and Gus Fring in Breaking Bad. Since all his popular roles are antagonistic in nature, the actor was expected to foray into the MCU with a supervillain role.

Patrick Stewart, known for playing Professor X, in the previous X-Men films, recently returned to the role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel has already confirmed that the previous X-Men films are not part of the main story universe inhabited by the current MCU films. It is speculated that the X-Men characters will be recast for a fresh reboot of the franchise. An official confirmation regarding Esposito’s role in the MCU is yet to emerge.
