Susan Sarandon replaces Sharon Stone in DC's Blue Beetle

Susan Sarandon has replaced Sharon Stone as the lead antagonist in DC's upcoming film Blue Beetle

Written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the Warner Bros. film is directed by Angel Manuel Soto. Headlined by Xolo Mariduena, the film also stars Harvey Guillen, Belissa Escobedo, and Bruna Marquezine.

Blue Beetle follows plays Jaime Reyes (Mariduena), a young Latino man who becomes a superhero in the DC universe after acquiring an alien super suit. In the comics, Jaime is the third to take up the mantle of the Blue Beetle. He eventually finds his way to become a part of the Teen Titans. Recently, the character became popular after its role in the second season of the animated series Young Justice.

Sarandon will play Victoria Kord, an original character created for the film. Meanwhile, actor Raoul Max Trujillo will play a secondary villain character called Carapax the Indestructible Man.

Blue Beetle is expected to hit screens on August 18, 2023.
