After almost thirty years since the release of Beverly Hills Cop III, the Eddie Murphy-starring film franchise is all set to add a fourth film. The film, which is set to be distributed by Netflix, will be directed by Mark Molloy. Murphy will return to reprise his role, while Jerry Bruckheimer will return as the producer.

The Beverly Hills Cop action-comedy film franchise launched Murphy to stardom in the 80s. The story of each of the films follows Axel Foley (Murphy), a street-smart cop from Detroit who ends up in Beverly Hills to solve his cases for various different reasons.

The first film was released in 1984, and it grossed over $316 million. It was followed by two more sequels, however, the underwhelming performance of the third film led to a pause in the film franchise. A fourth instalment has been in development for quite some time now, with Bad Boys For Life-fame direction duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah on board as directors. The two had to drop out to work on the upcoming Batgirl film.

Beverly Hills Cop IV marks Molloy’s first directing credit on a feature film. He has previously made a name for himself in the advertisements world, with some commercials for Apple, Go Daddy, and Nissan. His work with Apple got him a DGA nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials for his work with Apple.

No other information related to the project is available as of now.
