Aquaman-star Jason Momoa is all set to star in Apple TV+'s upcoming limited series Chief of War.

The series will also mark Momoa's television writing debut. The series will follow the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonisation of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.

Momoa, whose father is of Native Hawaiian ancestry, has also created and executive produced the eight-episode series with Thomas Pa'a Sibbett. The first two episodes of the series will be directed by Justin Chon (Pachinko).

The series has Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg and Doug Jung serving as executive producers.

Meanwhile, Momoa currently stars in Apple's post-apocalyptic drama series See. The actor has also co-written the story of the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, in which he reprises the titular character. The actor's previous writing credits include Brown Bag Diaries: Ridin' the Blinds in B Minor and Road To Paloma.
