Actors Shiva Negar and Jay Mohr have been roped in to star in recurring roles on The Cleaning Lady, Fox's series adaption of the Argentinean drama series of the same name.
The series follows Thony (Elodie Young), a whip-smart doctor who comes to the US for medical treatment to save her ailing son. When the system fails and pushes her into hiding, Thony refuses to be beaten down and marginalized. Instead, she becomes a cleaning lady for the mob and starts playing the game by her own rules.
Mohr is set to play the role of Council Eric Knight, a corrupt city Councilman running for Mayor of Las Vegas, whose campaign is funded by Hayak Barsamian. In return, Hayak gets permits for his legal and illegal enterprises. Negar will play Hayak’s daughter, Isabel Barsamian, who holds a Business Degree from Stanford as well as the keys to her father’s heart. On the day of her wedding, she has a nostalgic conversation with Arman Morales (Adam Canto) that reveals an intimate past, and a hidden betrayal, that will permanently alter their relationships from that day forward.
Michael Offer (Homeland) directs and executive produces the pilot. The Cleaning Lady hails from Miranda Kwok, showrunner Melissa Carter, Shay Mitchell, Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment.
Negar is best known for playing the female lead role in American Assassin. She has recurred on SEAL Team, Blood & Treasure, Four in the Morning, and The Art of More. Mohr was most recently seen in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. His other previous credits include Gary Unmarried, Ghost Whisperer, and Suburgatory.
