Christopher Nolan's upcoming film is set to focus on J Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the atomic bomb during World War II.

This project might just be Nolan's first outing outside the Warner Bros. setup. Nolan, who has been associated with the Hollywood giant since the 2002 film, Insomnia, is rumoured to move out of the collaboration, and this has piqued the interests of other studios, including Sony, Universal, and Paramount. But reports suggest that Warner Bros are in contention also. 

The souring of the director-producer equation was a result of the Studio's decision to move its 2021 slate to a day-and-date theatrical and HBO Max streaming release.

Nolan's latest work, Tenet, starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh, was the first big-scale Hollywood release after the pandemic-induced shutdown
