Amazon Prime Video's upcoming drama series Expats has roped in actor Brian Tee to its cast. The actor will play opposite Nicole Kidman in the show, which is based on Janice YK Lee’s novel The Expatriates.

The series hails from Lee, director-showrunner Lulu Wang, Kidman and Per Saari’s Blossom Films and Amazon.

The story follows an international community of survivors whose lives are bound together after a family tragedy. It revolves around three women, Mercy (Ji-young Yoo), Margaret (Kidman), and Hilary. Tee will portray the role of Clarke, a devoted husband to Margaret, and a father. Clarke has no desire to exchange his expat lifestyle for American suburbia, until his world is upended and he is faced with an impossible choice.

Notably, Kidman recently wrapped a schedule of the film in Hong Kong.

Expats, which was originally ordered to series in 2019, is written by Lee, Wang and Alice Bell. Wang and Bell will also serve as executive producers, while Lee will serve as consulting producer. Kidman and Per Saari of Blossom Films will also executive produce along with Theresa Park for Per Capita Productions.

Tee is best known for starring in NBC’s hit drama Chicago Med. His film credits also include The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, The Wolverine, Jurassic World and Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.
