Academy Award-nominee Toni Collette and Monica Bellucci, are the new additions to the cast of Catherine Hardwicke’s upcoming comedy, Mafia Mamma. In addition to them,  Rob Huebel of The Descendents and Children's Hospital will also be starring in a crucial role in the film.

Mafia Mamma is said to be a full-fledged comedy that tells the story of an average suburban American mom, Kristin (Collette), who inherits her family's Mafia empire in Italy after her grandfather passes away. Kristin has been living an unsatisfying life dealing with a sexist boss and a son who is beyond ready to leave for college. She also discovers that her musician husband (Huebel) has been cheating on her with a group. She then receives an unexpected phone call from Bianca (Bellucci), her grandfather’s most trusted advisor. The surprise call sets Kristin on an impromptu, yet exciting course to take over the family business.

The screenplay was written by Debbie Jhoon and Michael J. Feldman of Hulu’s Deadbeat and Peacock’s AP Bio and will begin production in Italy in 2022.
