Actor Sylvester Stallone will return to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in the upcoming third instalment.

The actor posted a behind-the-scenes clip to announce the news. “For those interested [in] what goes on behind the scenes for filmmaking. Here’s just a very small part of it. Face duplication,” wrote the actor.

Stallone will reprise his role as Stakar Ogord aka Starhawk, a character who first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017

Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 began production earlier this week. The director posted a picture with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Will Poulter, and Chukwudi Iwuji to announce the start of filming. The film also stars the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.

The third film was first announced in 2017, even before the release of the second film. However, the production of the film hit multiple snags and was delayed until now.

Notably, Stallone and Gunn had also collaborated for the recently released DC film, The Suicide Squad.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated to hit theatres on May 5, 2023.
