The shooting of Patty Jenkins' upcoming Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, has been delayed. The film, which was set to begin production in 2022, might not start on the expected date, and this might also impact the scheduled release date of December 22, 2023.

Apart from this project, Jenkins, known for helming the Wonder Woman films, is also supposed to direct the third movie in the DC franchise. She is also set to direct a Gal Gadot-fronted Cleopatra film at Paramount.

Rogue Squadron was supposed to be the first big-screen outing for the Star Wars universe since Disney and Lucasfilm wrapped up the Skywalker clan's nine-film saga with 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Since wrapping up the nine-film saga, the concentration of the banners has been more on developing their OTT offerings with The Mandalorian and the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, starring Ewan McGregor. The Disney plus streamer will also see the premiere of Book of Boba Fett in December, and a proposed spinoff based on Ahsoka, a character portrayed by Rosario Dawson in The Mandalorian.

Meanwhile, Lucasfilm is also backing the fifth instalment in the Indiana Jones franchise, which was delayed due to Harrison Ford's shoulder injury.
