The actor will play Lt Kate Dixon in the 21st season of Dick Wolf's crime drama. Her character is a successor to Lt Anita Van Buren, played by actor S Epatha Merkerson in seasons four to 20 of the Emmy-winning series.

The news was announced in September that Law & Order would return for its 21st season. The popular series has spun out into iconic spin-off series including Law & Order SVU.

Anthony Anderson is reprising his role as Detective Kevin Bernard, while Jeffrey Donovan is playing a New York Police Department detective. Hugh Dancy has been cast in the role of Assistant District Attorney.

Rick Eid serves as the writer and showrunner. The upcoming season is set to premiere on February 24.

With the addition of Law & Order, it will make three different shows from the franchise running on NBC at the same time. Law & Order: Organized Crime, Law & Order SVU, and then Law & Order. Law & Order: Organized Crime is the newest to the franchise and brought back fan-favourite Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni.
