Jake Gyllenhaal will lead the feature film adaptation of Oblivion Song, a graphic novel by Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici. Gyllenhaal will also be producing the film adaptation through his production house, Nine Stories, in association with Skybound Entertainment.

Kirkman said in a statement, "We couldn’t be more excited to find such great partners in New Republic and Nine Stories. Both companies have a tremendous reputation for premium storytelling at the highest level, and we can’t wait to see Jake bring this character to life on the big screen,”

Published in 2018, Oblivion Song is set in an apocalyptic backdrop of Philadelphia that was lost a decade prior along with 300,000 of its citizens, and is now dubbed as Oblivion. The graphic novel tells the story of Nathan Cole, to be played by Gyllenhaal, a man who makes daily trips to try and rescue those still living in Oblivion,

More details related to the project, including the filming schedule and creative time, are yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal will be next seen in Michael Bay directorial Ambulance and Antoine Fuqua’s The Guilty. He will also be reuniting with his Enemy-director, Denis Villeneuve, for an upcoming project.
