Actor Billy Porter will don the director's hat for an upcoming LGBTQ+ teen comedy, tentatively titled To Be Real.

To Be Real has an original script written by Ryan Shiraki that follows three queer friends who escape their hometown for Pride Weekend in New York City. As per the logline, "there, they discover that life over the rainbow is an insane, raunchy, often divisive, but ultimately a fierce non-stop party."

The project was recently sold to Amazon Studios.

Porter, an actor and a fashion icon has won multiple entertainment awards and nominations. He will soon be seen portraying Fab G, a non-binary fairy godmother in the upcoming Amazon's remake of Cinderella.

To Be Real hails from Gabrielle Union's I'll have Another Productions.
