Netflix's problematic docu-series Indian Matchmaking has been greenlit for a new season. The streaming giant announced on Monday that the series' host, Mumbai-based matchmaker Sima Taparia, will be returning for the second season.

The series, created by Indian-American filmmaker Smriti Mundhra, was widely criticised for propagating discrimination based on caste, skin colour, and gender stereotypes among others. Interestingly, the series went on to get nominated at the 2021 Emmys.

While not much information regarding the second season has been released, Netflix has announced the largest-ever open casting call for several of its reality series including Indian Matchmaking. Residents of the US, the UK, Canada, or Ireland who are above the age of 18 are eligible to apply for the call via NetflixReality.com.

Along with Indian Matchmaking, the other shows to have been renewed for additional season by Netflix are The Circle and The American Barbecue Showdown.
