Catherine Zeta-Jones to star in Wednesday series

Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to play the role of Morticia Addams, the matriarch of the Addams Family, in the Netflix series, Wednesday.

The series will mark the OTT debut of Tim Burton. Apart from Zeta-Jones, the series stars Jenna Ortega in the titular role and Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wednesday is described as a coming-of-age comedy, written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar. The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' (Ortega) years as a student at Nevermore Academy.

Zeta-Jones joins the likes of Anjelica Huston, Charlize Theron, Daryl Hannah and Carolyn Jones in the list of actors to play Morticia.

Showrunners Gough and Millar will also serve as executive producers in the show along with Burton.
