Netflix India has dropped the trailer for Haseen Dillruba. The film, directed by Vinil Mathew and written by Kanika Dhillon, is a romantic murder mystery set in a small-town. It stars Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane.
Rani (Taapsee) is a fan of pulpy Hindi crime novels. Her obsession takes a real-world form when she finds herself accused of killing her husband. Rishabh (Vikrant Massey) is seemingly killed in a home explosion. Before dying, he was head over heels for Rani, but proved less than an ideal husband. Rani, in turn, struck up an affair with a muscly rafting instructor (Harshvardhan Rane). With Rishabh now purportedly dead, she narrates her story to angry cop Aditya Srivastava. Did Rani really kill her husband? Did her lover? Most important — where did Vikrant learn to flick his cigarette like that?
“Each story has multiple sides,” Rani insists in Rashomon-mode. “Depends on who’s narrating it.”
Haseen Dilruba is releasing on Netflix on July 2. The film’s music is composed by Amit Trivedi.
