The makers of Saaho had revealed that the film's official trailer would be released on August 10 and true to their word, the trailer dropped at 5pm today.

Straight off the bat, it is revealed that Prabhas is an undercover cop who has been sent to track and get back 2000 crores that has been stolen in Mumbai. He is described as a smoking ad that comes before a feel good cinema — "Right content but visually disturbing." We get to see both hand-to-hand combat as well as Prabhas handling a huge dumbbell-esque equipment in fights.

Then comes Shraddha Kapoor, who goes by the name of Amrita Nair, working in Crime Branch. An adept shooter, a throwaway shot of her in a party dress shows that she probably has her own undercover mission.

We are introduced to Waaji City, an imaginary capital of the world's underground. Arun Vijay, Jackie Shroff, Lal, and Mandira Bedi are some of the suit-wearing gangsters who are part of this conglomerate. They are protecting what seems to be a treasure chest of a billion dollars inside a 'black box'. That Neil Nitin Mukesh is shown at this point is interesting because he's also shown earlier in the trailer when the theft of 2000 crores is talked about. Maybe Neil just plans the theft so that he can go for a bigger kill? Talking of kills, we get a shot of Bagheera-lookalike (yes, the panther from Jungle Book) in Saaho. Now that's a crossover no one could have expected.

The romance track of Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor doesn't really give off a great vibe in the trailer, but it looks like it will be short-lived anyway thanks to Shraddha dying. Or wait, maybe she isn't actually dead and might be actually be a double-agent all along conning Prabhas. At least that is what the trailer teases.

There are a motley of action shots in here — Prabhas jumping off a cliff, jumping off a helicopter and trying to play hop, skip, and jump with the rotor blades, the terrific bike vs truck chase, a huge tank, and what seems to be some straight-out-of-Dunkirk/Top Gun aerial combat. Saaho might just be the first instalment of an Indian Mission: Impossible if the trailer is anything to go by.

Prabhas and Shraddha, the film's leads, have dedicated three years of their career to this big-budget action film, which is all set to hit the theatres on August 30. Made on a budget of Rs 300 crore, the film also features Arun Vijay, Mahesh Manjrekar, Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mandira Bedi, and Chunky Pandey in supporting roles. Saaho has background score by Ghibran.
