The trailer of Kabir Singh, the official Hindi remake of the Telugu superhit film, Arjun Reddy (2017), was released today. The film stars Shahid Kapoor in the titular role of Kabir — a high-functioning alcoholic surgeon with anger issues, who embarks on a self-destructive path after a bitter heartbreak. The character was played by Vijay Devarakonda in the original.

Kabir Singh is helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who also directed Arjun Reddy. Kiara Advani plays the role of Shahid’s love interest in the film, a character originally played by Shalini Pandey.

The film is co-produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series. The film has been shot in Mumbai, New Delhi and Mussoorie.

Speaking about the remake, Shahid had earlier told us, “I had seen Arjun Reddy and thought it was very well performed and directed. The film had a very fresh treatment. I was slightly hesitant to star in the remake since the original was so good and we didn’t want to spoil it. But it provided me with the opportunity to do something that was exciting and challenging. Thus, I felt greedy and picked the role.”
