The teaser of director Rahul Sankrityan’s Shyam Singha Roy, starring Nani, Sai Pallavi, Krithi Shetty, Madonna Sebastian and Rahul Ravindran was unveiled today morning. The featurette teases a period drama that takes place in Kolkata and a parallel present-day story. The film is scheduled to release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada on December 24.

Written by Satyadev Janga, Shyam Singha Roy is about a Bengali writer who fights for the liberation of women forced into devadasi tradition. Nani essays the title role and is seen speaking revolutionary dialogues in Bengali. The teaser also shows Nani’s other character, Vasu, paired opposite Krithi Shetty. Though it is clear that Sai Pallavi's character appears during the period portion, there is no sign of the third female lead, Madonna Sebastian in the teaser.

Rahul Sankrityan had earlier directed Taxiwaala (2014). Shyam Singha Roy is produced by Venkat Boyanapalli of Niharika Entertainments. The film has cinematography by Sanu John Varghese and music by Mickey J Meyer.
