Nara Rohit to star in Pratinidhi sequel

Nara Rohit will be coming back to films after a period of five years with Pratinidhi 2. The film is a sequel of the 2014 political thriller Pratinidhi, a film that had also featured Rohit as a protagonist. Pratinidhi 2 will be a Republic Day release, hitting theatres on January 25, 2024. While Pratinidhi was directed by Prashanth Mandava, the sequel will be helmed by Murthy Devagupthapu. The announcement about the sequel as well as its release date was made on Monday afternoon with a first look poster.

The first look poster features the actor's form being represented through a collage of Telugu and English language newspapers. Rohit is seen raising his hand as he gazes sidewards. The caption of the film reads, "One man will stand again, against all odds." It is not yet clear if the film is a direct sequel or rather, a spiritual sequel. But the makers have stated that this feature will be a part of the Pratinidhi series.

Pratinidhi 2 is produced by the banner Vanaara Entertainments, with music by Mahati Swara Sagar, cinematography by Nani Chamidisetty, editing by Raviteja Girijala and production design by Kiran Kumar Manne.

It may be noted that Yatra 2, another political film, also the sequel of Yatra, is scheduled to release early next year, in February 2024. Yatra 2, helmed by Mahi V Raghav, will be focusing on the life of YS Jagan, the incumbent Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It may also be noted that Nara Rohit is the nephew of Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Chandrababu Naidu will be competing against Jagan Mohan Reddy in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh State Elections. Pawan Kalyan, who is also campaigning for the CM post on behalf of his Jana Sena Party, is also having two releases this year ahead of the elections, namely Bro and OG, though they are not political genre films.
