RRR wins Rotten Tomatoes Award

After critics awards, RRR bags the Golden Tomato award for Best Fan Favorite Movie

Beating Top Gun: Maverick, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Batman and Avatar: The Way of Water, RRR, the Telugu film starring NTR Jr and Ram Charan Tej and directed by SS Rajamouli, has won the 2022 Golden Tomato award for the Best Fan Favorite Movie. Rotten Tomatoes is a popular review aggregation website for films and television in the United States. They rate the films as fresh or rotten depending on how high or low the aggregated score of their crowdsourced reviews is. They post ratings, tomatometer and audience scores to reflect what critics and the general public think about the film, respectively.

RRR, which has a 95% rating on the tomatometer and a 94% rating audience score, has now been voted the Best Fan Favorite Movie. The film garnered the highest votes in a poll run between January 12 to January 27.

RRR, which had a worldwide release on March 24 last year, got a wide release on screens across the US a few months later on June 1, thanks to distributors Variance Pictures, who announced their plans to re-release the independence-themed action-drama with the hashtag #encoRRRe. RRR, since then, has become a cult favourite in the canon of mainstream American films lately.  It won both Best Film awards at Critics Choice Awards and the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, in addition to winning awards for Best Original Song (Naatu Naatu) for the film’s composer MM Keeravani, at the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes. MM Keeravaani is running for the Academy Awards under the same category.
