SS Rajamouli's RRR mints big at Japan box office

SS Rajamouli's RRR mints big at Japan box office

SS Rajamouli's epic saga, RRR is nominated for Oscars under the Best Original Song category. With just a couple of weeks left for the Oscars ceremony, the film starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR is continuing to do well at the Japan box office. 

Recently, the makers revealed that the film grossed over 1.1 billion JPY in 128 days. As of Sunday, the film has recorded around 7,02,421 footfall in the theates. Meanwhile, RRR is considered to be one of the highest-grosser in India. And in Japan, RRR bet the Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil film Muthu, which reigned supreme as the highest-grossing Indian film for nearly 24 years in Japan.

It may be noted that Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), 3 Idiots (2009), English Vinglish (2021), PadMan (2018), and Dangal (2016) are among other top-grossing films in Japan.

Produced by DVV Entertainment,  RRR is a fictional story that revolves around two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR), and their fight against the British Raj.
