Pa Ranjith to back Mari Selvaraj-Dhruv Vikram film along with Applause Entertainment

Reports about Mari Selvaraj's sports drama film with Dhruv Vikram have been making the rounds for months now. On Monday, the official announcement regarding the film was made by the makers. Pa Ranjith's Neelam Studios and Applause Entertainment are coming together to produce this upcoming, yet-to-be-titled film.

Anupama Parameswaran also stars in the lead role in the upcoming film. Previously, reports suggested that the upcoming sports film will be based on the life of Tamil Nadu Kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, who is a recipient of Arjuna Award.

More details regarding the title, extended cast and crew of the sports drama film are yet to be revealed by the makers. It is to be noted that Mari Selvaraj's Pariyerum Perumal, his debut, was also backed by Neelam Studios.

Meanwhile, Mari Selvaraj is currently working on Vaazhai, a children's film starring Nikhila Vimal in the lead role. Dhruv Vikram was last seen in Vikram and Karthik Subbaraj's Mahaan, which was released on Prime Video in 2022.

Pa Ranjith is currently busy with the post-production of Thangalaan starring Vikram. The film is expected to hit theatres in April. As a producer, he recently released Blue Star and J Baby.

Appaluse Entertainment debuted in Tamil by backing Ashok Selvan's Por Thozhil and the Sony LIV series Iru Dhuruvam 2. This upcoming sports drama is their sophomore feature production in Tamil.
