Ponniyin Selvan team releases a new promotional video featuring Trisha and Aishwarya Lekshmi where they talk about their characters Kundavai and Poonguzhali. The video had the actors talking about how they got the role, the extensive research that went into the making, and the challenges they faced while preparing for the role on set. The promo video also features behind-the-set scenes from the film.

Talking about her character, the free-spirited seafarer, Aishwarya Lekshmi says, “Poonguzhali felt very sexy, she’s the woman I wanted to be. She is very smart, and strong, she could row across oceans in a matter of days”

“This iteration of Kundavai has parts of Trisha in it,” she goes on to talk about her co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, “ Mani Sir wanted to us to not bond too much on-set because he wanted to capture the rivalry between Kundavai and Nadhini.”

The first part of the Ponniyin Selvan duology will receive a worldwide theatrical release in five major Indian languages ( Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada) on 30 September 2022.
