Udhayanidhi Stalin confirms Kamal Haasan-Shankar's Indian 2 is back on track

With the blockbuster success of Vikram, a long-awaited Kamal Haasan project is set to be revived soon. Indian 2, which went on floors before the pandemic-induced lockdown, met with a major roadblock when an accident on the film's shooting spot resulted in the death of three crew members. While the pandemic created further complications, it got even more tangled with creative differences cropping up between the makers.

However, the roadblocks seem to have been removed from this project as Udhayanidhi Stalin, who distributed Vikram through his Red Giant Movies banner, announced that Lyca Productions will soon restart work on the project. Udhayanidhi shared this update during the success celebration of Don, another film that was distributed by him.

Udhayanidhi said, "I spoke to Subaskaran (Lyca Productions), and we are soon set to restart work on the production of Indian 2."

While the initial star cast of Indian 2 included Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Gulshan Grover, and Kajal Aggarwal, it was speculated that Kamal Haasan's Thoongavanam co-star Trisha might replace Kajal in the film.

Indian 2 will mark the second collaboration between Anirudh Ravichander and Kamal Haasan after Vikram.
