68th National Film Awards: Director Vasanth elated over national recognition for Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum

Tamil film Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum bagged three awards at the 68th National Film Awards 2022, which was announced by government of India on Friday. The hard-hitting film, which talks about the patriarchal society and its impact on lives of women through the timeline, is directed by filmmaker Vasanth S Sai.

The film won three awards: Best Feature Film (Tamil), Best Editing, and Best Supporting Actress. While Sreekar Prasad bagged editing the film, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli won the other award.

Speaking about bagging the award, Vasanth, in a calm and composed voice, says to Cinema Express, “I am more than humbled and happy to be recognised for this film. I dedicate this award to all the women in my life, and the lives they have led. The award makes me truly grateful for their presence in my life. I also dedicate this award to my writers Ashokmitran, Adhavan and Jeyamohan. I am truly happy for the national recognition that this film has earned.”

It is to be noted that it is National Film Award is not new for Vasantha. The director’s Thakkaiyin Meedhu Naangu Kangal (2005) won the National Film Award for Best Short Fiction Film and in 2016, his Sanath won Natioanl Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues.
