Bala to direct Suriya after 18 years, new film announced

Bala to direct Suriya after 18 years, new film announced

Actor Suriya has announced that his next project will be helmed by ace filmmaker Bala. The duo had previously worked in films like Nandha (2001) and Pithamagan (2003). Suriya also made a special appearance in Bala's Avan Ivan (2011). 

 He made the announcement through a warm Tweet about the director, along with a picture of them together with senior actor and Suriya's father Sivakumar. 

In the post Suriya has addressed Bala as the person who trusted him before 20 years, introduced a new world to him and gave him identity. "He has always had more faith in me than me. I am starting one more beautiful journey with Bala anna, with the blessings of my father," he wrote. 

The genre, title, cast and crew of the film have not been revealed yet and are expected to be announced officially soon. 

Bala's last directorial Varmaa, starring Dhruv Vikram, had an unceremonious and delayed OTT release. On the production front he has Visithiran, the remake of Joseph, starring RK Suresh and directed by M Padmakumar himself, waiting for a release. 

Suriya, is currently awaiting the premiere of his social drama Jai Bhim, which will be out on Amazon Prime on November, 2. He also has Pandiraj's Etharkum Thuninthavan and Vetri Maaran's Vaadi Vaasal in the pipeline.
