Actor Ajith Kumar has requested his fans to not refer to him as 'Thala - a title that his fans have been using for a long time. The actor's spokesperson posted a statement on behalf of Ajith earlier today on Twitter.

"To the respected members of the media, public, and genuine fans. I henceforth wish to be referred to as Ajith or Ajith Kumar or just AK, and not as 'Thala' or with any other prefix before my name," read the statement.

"I sincerely wish you all a beautiful life filled with good health, happiness, success, peace of mind, and contentment forever," added Ajith.

Notably, the actor had previously dropped his title as 'Ultimate Star' and had also dissolved his fan clubs. Fans of Ajith have been using the title of 'Thala' since the 2001 film Dheena, in which actor Mahanadi Shankar refers to Ajith as 'Thala'.

Meanwhile, a promo video of the much-awaited second single of the actor's upcoming film Valimai will reportedly release today evening at 7 PM.

Valimai is directed by H Vinoth, marking his second collaboration with Ajith after the 2019 courtroom drama, Nerkonda Paarvai. Billed as an action entertainer, Valimai has remained one of the most awaited Indian films ever since its announcement in late 2019. The film's first look and motion poster were released earlier in July to the delight of the lead actor's fans after a long wait.

One song from the film, titled Naanga Vera Maari, was released in August and has garnered over 35 million views on YouTube so far. In September, a glimpse video of the film was released, further amping up the expectations.

Produced by Bayview Projects in association with Zee Studios, Valimai has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while Nirav Shah has handled the cinematography.

The film also features Huma S Qureshi, Bani, Sumithra, Achyunth Kumar, Yogi Babu, Raj Ayyappa, Pugazh, among others in supporting roles.
