Sarah Silverman to headline indie thriller Viral opposite Blair Underwood
Underwood will also direct and produce the film, which has a script written by Joe McClean
Actor and comedian Sarah Silverman is all set to headline the independent psychological thriller Viral opposite Blair Underwood.
Silverman will play the role of Emilia, girlfriend of Andrew (Underwood). Andrew gets paranoid after the disappearance of his wife, and Emilia, a victims advocate and a self-help blogger, has to help Andrew in escaping his self-destructive cycles, even when she herself has to deal with the demons of her past.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Underwood will also direct and produce the film, which has a script written by Joe McClean (Resident Evil: Vendetta).
Speaking about her casting, Underwood said that Silverman is a "true artist" who thrives in all genres, and added, "Most people know of Sarah Silverman's brilliant comedic performances, but she's a devastatingly raw and authentic dramatic actress as well."
Shooting for the film will begin in New York this summer.
Viral is also produced by McClean, Daniel Cypress, John Kalafatis, Joanna Kalafatis and Andreas Ignatiou of York Films.
Silverman, whose credits include Battle of the Sexes and The Book of Henry, recently wrapped shooting for Marry Me.
