Kartik Aaryan-starrer Dhamaka to premiere on Netflix

Kartik Aaryan took to social media today to announce that his upcoming film, Dhamaka, will skip theatrical release and premiere on Netflix.

Directed by Ram Madhvani, Dhamaka has Kartik playing the role of a journalist who covers the live broadcast of a terror attack in Mumbai. With the series of ups and downs and events that follow, he must make a choice between his future career or the humanist in him.

Kartik posted the teaser of the film, and wrote, "Main hoon Arjun Pathak. Jo bhi kahunga sach kahunga (I am Arjun Pathak. I will speak the truth and nothing but the truth). Dhamaka coming soon, only on Netflix."

In a statement, the actor said "Working with a maverick like Ram Madhvani has allowed me to explore and showcase a new facet of my personality. I am thrilled that the film will reach audiences and my fans all around the world on Netflix."

Dhamaka also stars Super 30 actor Mrunal Thakur and Sacred Games star Amruta Subhash.

Director Ram, who is known for the hit Disney+ Hotstar series Aarya and the 2016 Sonam Kapoor-starrer Neerja, said, "Amita Madhvani and I, and our full team at Ram Madhvani Films with the team at RSVP, are thrilled that our film Dhamaka will be on Netflix. We know that this is our first step to a continuing relationship with a platform we highly respect and that will reach national and international audiences."

On working with Kartik, the director added, "Every day Kartik gave his all to the 360-degree system with which I work. His full involvement, his passion, his precise calibration as an actor is something that I hugely respect. It would be great to collaborate with him again because he made my work better."

As of now, Netflix has not confirmed the date of the film's release.

Dhamaka is backed by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Films and Ram Madhvani Films in association with Lotte Cultureworks, Globalgate Entertainment, and Lionsgate.
