Actor and martial artist Donnie Yen is set to star alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4, the fourth instalment in the action film franchise. The Hong Kong Chinese superstar, who gained global stardom with films like xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and the IP Man films, will be reportedly playing an old-time ally of the film's protagonist.

The news of Yen's casting comes a week after it was announced that Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama will be making her acting debut with the actioner. John Wick: Chapter 4 is being helmed by Chad Stahelski, who directed the first three instalments in the series. The films follow a retired hitman who is compelled to take up his violent ways after the demise of his wife.

The third film, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum released in 2019, and the fourth chapter was initially scheduled to hit the screens in June this year, before postponing its release due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The film is now scheduled to release on May 27, 2022.

Donnie Yen was recently seen in Enter the Fat Dragon and Mulan, and is set to soon appear in the Cantonese action film Raging Fire.
